The most celebrated rug in international fashion continues to be the Met Gala. In this new 2023 edition, held on Monday, May 1, fashion figures and the jetset dressed in white to pay tribute to the German designer Karl Lagerfeld, who was the emblematic creative director of Chanel and of fendi.
On a celebrity-studded night, the Metropolitan Museum of New York dressed in white and consolidated the theme of the meeting, which served as an appetizer for the future exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty” (Karl Lagerfeld: A Beauty Line) to be held soon in the same space.
“In Honor of Karl” were the right words to insinuate the dress code that the guests, with elegance, creativity and extravagance, accepted the invitation. In this way, the guests had the opportunity to show their own interpretations of Lagerfeld’s iconic creations from 1955 until her death in 2019.
Along with the legendary Anna Wintour, inspiring muse of the film “The devil dresses in fashion” and renowned editor of the magazine Vogue, they were leading the presentation Michaela Coel, Penelope Cruz, Roger Federer and Dua Lipa. The presence of these co-chairs demonstrates the high level of excellence that was envisioned at the Met Gala and its importance as one of the most important events in the fashion industry.
The history of the Met Gala dates back to 1948, when it was founded by Eleanor Lambert as a way to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Clothing Institute. Since then, the Gala has evolved into an iconic fashion event. Each year, the Gala is themed around a different theme, and the designers and celebrities in attendance must tailor their outfits according to the theme at hand.
Kate Moss, Gisele Budchen, Emily Ratajkowski, were some of the historical top models that at some point, in their modeling work, the brand founded by Coco Chanel came to accompany in their careers. Hollywood was also part of the game, Nicole Kidman, Jared Leto, Pedro Pascal and Margot Robbie, among other luminaries, they said present with their most glamorous outfits.
Finally , the world of music was represented by figures such as Bad Bunny, Maluma, Rihanna and other musicians in tune with the colors established for the event.
