They dedicate the first release from the record, “Taucher (Für Smukal)”, to a deceased friend.
The German post-punk band Messer is back with their single “Taucher (Für Smukal)” and at the same time announces a new album and the accompanying tour. KRATERMUSIK comes on March 1st, 2024 and about a week later they start their tour with a concert in Münster.
After three years of work the new record comes
Pogo McCartney, Milek, Hendrik Otremba and Philipp Wulf show up Instagram to announce their musical news: “The song, illustrated in the adventurous video by Maren Michaelis, announces our fifth album: KRATERMUSIK will be released on March 1st. We’re finally going on a big tour again in March and May with the record we’ve been working on for the last three years. Advance sales have just begun.”

There’s more to “Taucher (Für Smukal)” than just a simple single release. The band dedicates their current piece to their late friend Christian Smukal.

The recording remains true to the typical Messer aesthetic by once again testing the boundaries of post-punk. You can find all information about this on the Messer’s website.
You can already buy tickets for the upcoming tour. Messer starts on March 8th on platform 22 in Münster, then hits some cities like Hamburg, Saarbrücken and Recklinghausen until March 23rd, before taking a break until May. Seven more concerts will follow in western and eastern Germany from May 17th to 23rd, but Messer has already announced that more performances will be added.
They are supported on their tour by the groups Dews and performance.
