Galatasaray’s national football player Kerem Aktürkoğlu published a message of support for Palestine.
In his post on his Instagram account, Aktürkoğlu said, “I know there are those who are afraid to speak, those who are afraid of saying the wrong thing… But I do not want to sit silently and live with the fact that I did not speak. We can condemn the attacks on Israel that caused the loss of civilian lives and at the same time stand against the oppression that has been carried out on Palestine for years.” “Is it right to sit quietly and watch the destruction of the Palestinian people?” he said.
“What happened between Israel and Palestine can be read differently by everyone historically. In my opinion, what has been happening for years is the desperate destruction of a people.” Making his evaluation, the 24-year-old actor said:
“We do not need historical information to interpret what is happening now. What we are witnessing now is quite simple: an occupied and oppressed people are being destroyed by a nuclear state fully supported by the western world. This has never been an equal struggle and what is happening now is , a complete massacre. What could be the answer to the murder of civilians, the bombing of children’s hospitals, leaving a population to choose between death or migration, and erasing a country from the map with disproportionate force? This is a situation that must be intervened. Defenseless civilians and children are killed by inhumane methods. “We should not stand by and watch him go without water, electricity and eventually die. It is not enough to pray for peace, we must not remain silent because the rest of the world is not making any effort to prevent this terrible tragedy. He who remains silent against injustice is a mute devil.”
