Merel Ek has no problem with Sam Hagens’ new haircut, but she does think it is quite wild for someone in a journalistic position. “Yes, that’s actually not possible.”
Today Inside is a current and opinion-oriented programme. It certainly has a loose character, but to sit there as a political reporter with a kind of disheveled out-of-bed look… According to some, Sam Hagens’ new haircut goes a little too far. And all because he was so incited by media expert Victor Vlam.
Modest grove
Merel Ek, a direct colleague of Sam, has also seen his haircut on television. She thinks it’s nice in itself, but she says you should also take into account the position you hold.
According to Wilfred Genee, it’s not that bad. He puts it to her in his column In The Walkways: “What do you think of Sam’s hair? I read all kinds of things about it. I didn’t even notice. He doesn’t have that much hair. No offense, but he has a modest bush of hair.”
Aesthetic or wild
Articles about Sam’s hair have appeared all over the internet. Merel: “Yes, he has hair, but there was a poll at the bottom somewhere. Then you can vote, right? ‘Do you like it better this way and a bit more aesthetically?’, it said. Or: ‘Do you think it’s too wild for a journalist?’ Well, then I decided that I thought it was really too wild for a journalist.”
Wilfred understands: “It was way too wild.”
Merel: “Yes, it was really wild. It really isn’t possible anymore, no.”
Wink
Merel and Wilfred of course mean it all with a wink. After all, Sam’s new haircut is very much non-news and you may wonder whether show media should report about it at all.
Because, according to Wilfred, there is no doubt that it is non-news: “I didn’t even notice it!”
Sam or his hairdresser have not yet responded to the commotion about his hair.
