Today Inside star Merel Ek does not regret having such an angry outburst in front of the camera. “It was very annoying what Dilan Yesilgöz answered,” she fumes.
We have never seen Merel Ek so angry on television: the political reporter went completely crazy last week when Dilan Yesilgöz refused to answer her questions and she simply walked on to the council of ministers. Does she have any regrets about that emotional response? She tells it in the podcast Politics Today.
Annoying Dilan
Merel still supports it. “It was very annoying what she answered. She had first stayed with Rutger Castricum for a long time. Nothing to the detriment of Rutger, I wish him that, but afterwards she came to the other journalists and then she answered some questions from RTL, some questions from NOS and then I wanted to.”
And then? “Then she suddenly kept walking. While normally she just takes the time to answer some questions. Yes, I really didn’t think that was possible. Certainly not with everything that is going on now. So then I called after her to ask if she wanted to come back, etcetera.”
Not willingly
This happened quite often last week, according to Merel. “That they are just not very willing to answer questions, even though it was necessary. So I was a little annoyed about that.”
Did Dilan speak to her later? Yes. “To be honest, she took plenty of time for everyone at the end, so after the cabinet meeting, so she answered all the questions again.”
Enough questions
According to colleague Sam Hagens, Merel should not go too far. He reveals: “But at one point she also said to you: ‘Mrs. Ek, I think we have discussed enough now.’”
Merel: “Yes, because I thought she didn’t answer my questions. She thought so and that went back and forth all the time. It wasn’t very pleasant then either.”
Sam: “No. And you have that more often.”
