Merel Ek, the political analyst of Hart van Nederland and Today Inside, was not really impressed with the VI replacement Marcel & Gijs last month. “I’ve only seen five episodes.”
She is a welcome guest with the men of Today Inside, but we have not seen her at the table at Marcel & Gijs: political reporter Merel Ek. Was she not invited or did she not want to go? That is unclear, but Merel does indicate that she has hardly watched and that she does not like the presenters very much.
Ozcan is positive
Hélène Hendriks briefly looked back on the Marcel & Gijs adventure in her talk show De Oranjezomer last night. “Have you watched Gijs Groenteboer yet?” she asks Özcan Akyol, who does not have a good relationship with presenters Gijs Groenteman and Marcel van Roosmalen, because he constantly makes fun of Gijs’s last name.
Özcan is remarkably positive. “I certainly looked, yes. I had a great time. I don’t think you had to watch five nights in a row. That became too much. But I thought it was successful.”
‘It succeeded’
Hélène: “What did you find particularly successful?”
Özcan: “That they continue like this and go too far in ironizing that at a certain point you no longer know what it is about and that is humorous. At least for me. I understand that not everyone can appreciate that humor, but I thought it was good. You, Merel?”
Merel didn’t look
Merel then reveals that she skipped three quarters of the episodes. “Yeah, I thought it ehh… I think I saw it five times or something. Moments of rest, eh, if VI is not there then.”
Hélène: “This is very enthusiastic. haha.”
Merel: “It may not be my humor, but they did have good viewing figures.”
Too little air
And how does Özcan think Hélène is doing? “It’s still a bit too much for me… It goes in all directions. A little too substantive. Too little air. Could use a little more humour. It’s summer evening television, isn’t it, Dolly Parton?”
He is referring to Merel, who is wearing a rather country-like outfit. Hélène herself states that she still needs to get into it. How many viewers does she want? “Well, a million would be nice to start. Hahaha.”
It became 713 thousand last night. A nice score, but the viewer profile is a bit old.
