RASTATT (dpa-AFX) – The car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz (Mercedes-Benz Group (ex Daimler)) wants to build one of its future vehicles from the entry-level segment, the compact car CLA, in Rastatt. The CLA will be launched in Rastatt in the middle of the decade as the first vehicle on the new modular platform, as a spokeswoman confirmed upon request on Tuesday. “Automobilwoche” had previously reported on it.
The company is investing a low three-digit million amount in the plant. The spokeswoman did not want to break down the amount in more detail. According to the group, around 6,100 employees are currently producing the A and B Class, the compact SUV GLA and the fully electric EQA at the Rastatt factory./rwi/DP/stw
