Mercedes forced to introduce developments on its W13

Brackley’s W13 at Imola has minor changes on the bottom to try to lower ground clearance. Which, due to porpoising, does not allow her to extract the potential of the car evident in the simulator

On Sunday, the Imola race, the first European round of the 2022 world championship, has a crucial value for Mercedes, much higher than its direct rivals Red Bull and Ferrari. The current ranking reflects the reliability of the W13, thanks to which the Brackley team was able to capitalize on the problems of the Newey-designed RB18. Nonetheless, it emerges in a mercilessly clear way that the problems of this single-seater are far from having found a definitive solution after the first three rounds. It would therefore make sense, looking from the outside, to introduce effective corrective measures as quickly as possible. In reality, following this path is much more complex than it seems, due to the nature of the intrinsic criticalities in this project.
