Mental Health Day: Zoe Wees shares the first episode of her “Therapy Session”

Wees struggles with panic attacks himself. She wants to give the topic space in her video series.

October 10th is International Mental Health Day – World Mental Health Day. In order to draw more attention not only to the day, but also to topics of this kind, Zoe Wees has started a new project. In her “Therapy Sessions” the singer wants to talk about her own experiences, but above all to spread information about mental illnesses and thus remove taboos from the topic little by little.

In the YouTube series “Therapy Session” Zoe Wees sits down with her therapist Manuela Hein. The two of them find a balance between personal problems and professional expertise. In the first episode, the 21-year-old talks about her panic attacks and anxiety. After the psychologist asks her about specific effects on her life, Wees says: “I couldn’t walk, I was dizzy, I was scared and didn’t want to go around people.” That’s why she didn’t leave the house for about three months at the beginning of her anxiety disorder can.

Although it is clear to the singer that therapy places in Germany are highly competitive and that “first aid” often comes too late, she nevertheless emphasizes the importance of open communication. “It’s so easy to say, but if you tell people – someone you love – you will immediately feel better,” Wees explains in an interview. Psychologist Hein also recommends viewers a simple method for everyday life. Setting an object as a symbol that one can touch and look at in difficult situations will provide immediate strength. In Zoe Wees’ case, it is an amulet with a picture of her late great-grandmother, as she shares in conversation.

The musician wants to have a positive effect on her fans not only with her new video format, but also with her music and encourage them to seek help if necessary. About her debut album THERAPY, which will be released on November 3rd, the singer writes in an Instagram post: “I worked on this album for a long time and writing it was a very healing experience for me. I hope you feel the same comfort when you hear it.” Wees already provided a foretaste with the singles “Lightning” and “Sorry For The Drama”.
