Men throw firebombs and grenades at houses: 17 and 10 years in prison

Two men (33 and 34) must be sentenced to 17 and 10 years in prison by the court in Den Bosch for committing attacks in Eindhoven, Leende, Oss and Haarlem. They are behind explosions and arson in and near houses and tried to kill people. Earlier, the court sentenced the duo to 15 and 8 years in prison.

According to the court, the attacks made a huge impression on the victims. But the perpetrators shrugged their shoulders. “This realization does not seem to have entered the minds of the men at any time.”

Wave of violence
The wave of violence that the men are behind started in February 2018 with a car fire in front of a house on Asterstraat in Oss. The men were also involved in the attack on the house of Arie den Dekker. His dogs died in the arson attack, but Den Dekker himself barely managed to get away.

The man from Oss became a target because he had talked to the police after Peter Netten was shot dead at a trailer park in Oss. It was a few blocks away from him. Den Dekker heard shots and saw a car drive away.

He felt that he was not protected by, among others, the municipality of Oss. In July 2020, Den Dekker set himself on fire in front of the town hall. He died on the spot.

Pure luck
The two perpetrators from Arnhem and Romania left behind a great trail of destruction. In 2018, they went to Eindhoven with a third man and threw a hand grenade into the hall of a house. The two were arrested in October 2018 in a holiday park in Belfeld in Limburg. According to the judge, it was purely luck that there were no fatalities in the attacks.

The court sees the 34-year-old Arnhemmer as the main suspect because he acted as an intermediary and instructed his co-perpetrator on how to set the fires.

According to the judge, the orders for the crimes came from the criminal circuit. “The intention was to frighten the victims or to convey a message. The fact that the suspects were willing to do this shows an oppressive lack of conscience.”
