Five men climbed the 300 meter high wind measuring tower in Schipkau (Oberspreewald-Lausitz district) and probably took photos and videos there.
According to the police, a witness saw the men, between the ages of 22 and 26, climb the tower on Thursday. According to initial findings, they are said to have taken photos or videos there, presumably for selfies.
According to the police, other people were also present – some of them may have fled to the adjacent forest. The five suspects were accordingly charged with trespassing.
“Climbing the tower was extremely negligent,” said a police spokesman for the dpa. That was not only dangerous, a rescue from a height would also have been difficult, the spokesman continued.
The wind measuring tower in Schipkau is said to be the tallest of its kind in the world. It was only completed last spring.
