Member of elite troops arrested for drug crime and arms trafficking | Inland

A Special Forces soldier has been arrested on suspicion of preparing drug imports, embezzlement of military goods, involvement in arms trafficking and illegal possession of weapons. The Public Prosecution Service East Netherlands confirms this tonight after reporting by The Telegraph




The Public Prosecution Service announced that the soldier was arrested on 1 February and was brought before the examining magistrate of the court in Arnhem three days later. He has decided to remand the suspect for fourteen days.

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee is investigating the man. A search was made at two addresses in Rotterdam and at the barracks where the man is stationed.

According to De Telegraaf, the suspect is a sergeant major and it is known among colleagues that he regularly stayed in Suriname on behalf of the Korps Commandotroepen (KCT).
