Melodies that taste like honeydew melon

A wacky exploitation LP entitled “A Trip Down The Sunset Strip” was offered under the moniker The Leathercoated Minds, but behind it was the meaning and sound-seeking guitarist from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In front of his front door, in the hammock, he finally found both at once: the meaning of the sound. “Naturally” was the name of the first LP that celebrated this provocatively casual, almost lethargically rolling country boogie, and “Really” was the second, more laconic one.

Both set high standards, but “Okie” surpassed them, was a tad more delicate. Producer Audie Ashworth perfected the long-patented style, extrapolating Cale’s stoic murmurs, digging them up from the depths of the mix and feeding it sweet honeydew-melon-flavored melodies.

And after more.
