Harry Mens is not at all surprised that the Meilandjes still have not sold their capital villa in Noordwijk. “They have no idea about real estate,” says the star broker.
De Meilandjes bought a villa in Noordwijk for almost 2.7 million euros last year and now want to sell it for 3 million euros. Back then it was already way too expensive for what you get, according to Harry Mens, let alone now. “It’s a nice house, but not for 3 million. They have to drop half a million in the price,” he says in the Weekend.
“I don’t understand!”
Harry thinks that the Meilandjes have really lost their way by buying this house for this price. “That was too much, they were impulsive. But if I say that out loud, they get mad.”
Has he ever spoken to his former neighbors? “No, I think they’re already gone. I always greeted them, but otherwise… I think it’s a special couple, but they don’t know anything about real estate.”
Exaggerate
Is he happy that the Meilandjes have moved, given the possible nuisance from fans? “That was not so bad, people can also exaggerate. Even if no one came, Martien still says it to please himself. No, not to make himself bigger. You don’t have to, because he’s already big in his way.”
It is clear: Harry is still not a fan of the Meilandjes and their programs. “It is, of course, folk theatre, there is nothing spontaneous about it. It’s all clipped and orchestrated. And they act like it all happened by accident. I’m fine with it, it’s a good formula, but… it’s a formula.”
Staged
It’s all very much staged, Harry concludes. “They record ten hours and cut it to 30 minutes. Then it will be fun anyway, but at a certain point I’ve seen it. So I don’t follow them.”
