Meiland villa still not sold: ‘Nobody wants to live there!’

RTL Boulevard has the idea that nobody really wants to live in the very expensive Noordwijk villa of the Meilandjes. “Although everything shines on the inside, people don’t seem to want to live there for anything.”

The Meilandjes bought a villa in Noordwijk for 2.7 million euros last year, but after a few days they already regretted it. They threw the cottage in the sale and wanted 3 million euros for it, to make optimal use of the housing shortage in the Netherlands. Even now that the price has been reduced to 2.8 million euros, no one is interested.

Not interested

Is Harry Mens right after all? Have the Meilandjes indeed paid much, much too much money for this villa without a normal garden? And do they really not understand real estate?

RTL Boulevard put a finger on the sore spot yesterday: the Noordwijk villa is now – just like before their French castle – starting to become a problem. “Although the housing market in our country is quite heated, potential buyers of Erica and Martien Meiland’s million-dollar villa in Noordwijk don’t bite,” said Bridget Maasland.

For no gold

The Meilandjes therefore had a film made in their villa. “The duo will not lose the palace on the paving stones and that is why Erica literally opens her doors in a video,” says Bridget.

Voice-over Jeroen Kijk in de Vegte: “Although everything shines on the inside, people don’t seem to want to live in this million-dollar villa of the Meilandjes. After the asking price of 3 million has already dropped by two tons, Erica and Martien are adding an extra penny with this tour.”

What does Rose think?

What does Roos Reedijk, known for the TV hit Buy Without Watching, think of it? She thinks that the ludicrous interior of the Meilandjes is not helping. “When you enter you immediately fall over that big golden sofa, but I would perhaps do a completely different setup.”

As a dining table, the Meilandjes have put four weird bistro tables next to each other. Also clumsy, says Roos. “They have put up some crazy bistro tables there as a large dining table. I personally don’t think I would have done that.”

Luke doesn’t want to

Roos thinks that the Meilandjes just want too much money. “The houses are flying around you and there are tons of overbids left and right, so in itself you would say that this house should also be easy to sell, but they ask quite a bit for it of course.”

Is Luuk Ikink, the wealthy presenter of RTL Boulevard, perhaps interested? “I think I’ll stop for a while.”
