Meierijstad will receive approximately 100 asylum seekers from 15 September. This reception should relieve the application center in Ter Apel in Groningen. And the reception is, until November 1 at the latest.
For the reception, part of the Administrative Center in Sint-Oedenrode is being set up as a crisis emergency reception location. In this former town hall of Sint-Oedenrode, for example, the meetings of committees and the city council take place.
A large part of the center is no longer used by the municipality and is rented out, for example. The town hall of Meierijstad has been in Veghel since the merger of Veghel, Schijndel and Sint-Oedenrode in 2017.
From mid-October, the municipality of Boxtel will receive about 450 refugees at Landgoed Velder in Liempde. From that date, Meijerijstad wants to reduce the reception in the Administrative Center again, as has been agreed within the Brabant Noord security region.
