Mega upheaval in the Cologne sharks

After the quarter-finals in the play-offs, the Kölner Haie are facing a change in the DEL season break. Nine players will leave the Haie in the summer. The club announced this in a press release on Thursday.

Among the departures are the long-standing regulars Marcel Müller, Lucas Dumont and Colin Ugbekile, who played for the KEC for six years. With Justin Pogge and Tomas Pöpperle, both goalkeepers from last season have to go. The other departures are Marcel Barinka, Quinton Howden, Philipp Maurer and Carl Neill.

Those responsible for the club had extended many contracts in recent weeks and months, and they are currently still in talks with some players. The first newcomers are to be announced in the next few weeks, and three talents from the Haie youth team have also been given sponsorship licenses.

Jon Matsumoto will remain an integral part of the team. Born in Canada, he recently applied for German citizenship and is expected to play with a German passport next season.
