Mega estate confiscated from ex-Haas pilot Nikita Mazepin

What is ex-Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin doing? At least no more holidays in Sardinia, because his mega property there, worth over 100 million euros, has now also been confiscated by the Italian authorities as part of the sanctions against the Russian oligarchs.

When it comes to asset freezes and property confiscation, Italian authorities have been particularly on the ball these weeks.

After the Italians had seized several super yachts and luxury villas that could be attributed to Russian oligarchs in the past few days and weeks, the “Guardia di Finanza” (Eng.: financial and economic police) now also has the holiday home frozen by ex-Formula 1 driver Nikita Mazepin in Sardinia. The newspaper reports “Corriere Della Sera“.

The property in the town of Portisco in the northeast of the island has 25 rooms, numerous gardens and an oversized swimming pool and a total living area of more than 400 square meters. The value of the building is estimated at around 105 million euros.

The official owner of the villa is a Cyprus based company called Ferimod Investments which was established in 2009. After detailed investigations, the Italian tax authorities were able to prove that Nikita and father Dmitry Mazepin are the actual owners.

Mazepin wants to defend himself against sanctions

Just last week, Mick Schumacher’s former team-mate defended himself against the sanctions in an interview, saying: “I do not agree with them and plan to take action against them.”

In his eyes, the sanctions are “a cancel culture against my country,” added the Russian, who lost his cockpit at Haas a few days before the start of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

After the start of the Russian attack on Ukraine, Haas parted ways with main sponsor Uralkali and accordingly also with Dmitry Mazepin, who is said to have a close connection to the Kremlin. A few days later, the team kicked Nikita out as well.
