In mid-March 2020, a few days before the mandatory quarantine began, a group of artists met, once again, at the bookstore The Argentine internationalheadquarters of the Editorial Mansalva. Your host, the editor and musician Francis Garamona, greeted them with glasses of whiskey and beer. The guests were lost in the corners. The protagonists would never suspect that that night would remain in their memories as the end of an era.
In the heart of the neighborhood of palermoThe camera Galperin is voyeur of the colorful and absurd moments that these guests build in their conversations. The late artist Sergio De Loof, the humorist Rudythe musician Nacho Marciano They are some of the dozens of visitors who, as the party goes on, take center stage, displaying their thoughts and experiences. That chronology allows Francisco Garamona, the owner of the house, to inspire them with a guitar or with a full glass.
The filmmaker Mariano Galperin He began his audiovisual career hand in hand with the video clip. “Zoom” of soda Stereo, belonging to the album “Sueño Stereo”, is one of the most remembered music videos of the Argentine band, made by Galperín in 1995. Within his extensive filmography is the controversial film “Chicos rico” (2000), “El apron de Lili” (2004) and the documentary “Everything I see is mine” (2017). Probably, “Tertulia N ° 250” is his most intimate film, due to the closeness of the space and its characters.
“I wanted it to be very true. That the person who sees it knows what that is, there is not a very specific conflict. This is the gathering two hundred and fifty and having a number means that each gathering is different and unique. This was the night, explains director Galperin. With Francisco we are friends, he hoped that something would appear within the tonality of his personality. He did not expect something, but he expected everything, and that everything could be anything”.
Nacho Marciano is recognized as one of the figures of national rock. A native of La Plata, he continued with his musical work the legacy that Federico Moura and Virus began in the ’80s. A not so well known vein of his work is that of the visual arts, where he stands out as a draftsman and potter. However, it was music that was responsible for Marciano and Garamona meeting each other and being able to work on their first joint projects.
Founding participant of the Mansalva gatherings, Nacho Marciano confesses: “I lived three blocks away. It was going to the gathering, going to my house to edit the album, going back to the gathering without sleeping. He was living from gathering to gathering for a whole year. I found a good orphanage. It happens to us artists in the ateliers or in those spaces, one meets people who feel the same way. One relaxes, learns and teaches. One of the great talents is to surround yourself with people better than you, that nurtures you, teaches you and exposes you”.
