MediaMarkt wants to take over eight stores from bankrupt BCC

MediaMarkt wants to take over eight stores from electronics store chain BCC, which recently went bankrupt.

It was previously announced that MediaMarkt was interested in a small part of all BCC branches. A report from the Netherlands Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM) now makes it clear that these plans are concrete.

MediaMarkt reported to the ACM that it wanted to take over BCC’s stores in Amsterdam, Barendrecht, Beek, Beverwijk, Delft, Hilversum, Nijmegen and Zoeterwoude. It is not immediately clear what this means for the staff at those branches.

BCC, with a total of 58 branches, went bankrupt in September. The company suffered major losses and was affected by a slump in the consumer electronics market. At the same time, costs for the company increased.
