Media reports: Mbappé does not want to take the option to extend his contract with PSG

Kylian Mbappé has apparently informed his Paris Saint-Germain club that he will not exercise the option of extending his contract, which expires in 2024, for another season.

This is reported by the French sports daily “L’Equipe” and also the “New York Times”. Both refer to their own sources and information. This would mean that the top scorer would be available for free in the summer of 2024 – and PSG would be faced with a dilemma: sell Mbappé for a lot of money this summer? Or keep it for another year but not collect any money?

Mbappé’s decision is said to have caused a stir at PSG, initially wrote “L’Equipe”. A farewell this summer is therefore no longer out of the question. And the “New York Times” reported a short time later that Mbappé had already informed those responsible in Paris in a letter about his intention to change.

A few weeks ago, after becoming champion with PSG and being named the best player in France’s Ligue 1, Mbappé had said he would not move this summer. “I’m happy and I’ll be here next season.”

Messi gone, Ramos gone – and soon Mbappé too?

This could mean that the next star could leave the club after World Champion Lionel Messi’s move to the United States to Inter Miami became known. Ex-Spanish world champion Sergio Ramos is also leaving the club. PSG is in a state of upheaval anyway. The future of coach Christophe Galtier is also considered uncertain.

Real Madrid President Pérez promises Mbappé transfer

Mbappé will be able to choose his new employer if he actually leaves PSG by 2024 at the latest. A year ago there was a lot of discussion about a change. At that time, Real Madrid was considered interested before Mbappé extended it again in Paris.

There is a video of Florentino Pérez, the president of Real Madrid, which is said to be only a few days old. Pérez is then asked if he will bring Mbappé to the “royal”. He says: “Yes, but not this year.”
