Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach were reportedly about to sign their dream player Franck Honorat from Stade Brest. But now the deal is said to have burst – although all parties basically agreed.
Right winger Franck Honorat will, according to information from “sky“Do not switch to Gladbach, a final agreement on a transfer could not be reached. Curious: After weeks of negotiations, everything should have been clear between the two clubs and the player.
According to the TV station, there was a transfer fee of ten million euros for the 26-year-old. In the end, only details should have stood in the way. Whether the negotiations will be resumed at a later date remains to be seen. However, the trend is rather that a change is now impossible.
The “90Min” portal had previously reported that Brest insists on a higher transfer fee than ten million euros. Since other clubs, such as Spain representative Espanyol Barcelona, are said to be interested in Honorat’s services, the player could still leave his club despite the broken talks with Gladbach.
Gladbach is looking for “variable” strikers
It is clear that the foals are running out of time to be active again on the player market. Changes can only be reported until September 1st, when the summer transfer period ends.
Honorat joined Brest from AS Saint-Étienne in 2020, where he signed a five-year contract. The winger, who was once trained in Nice, has played a total of 104 competitive games in Ligue 1 so far, with the 1.80 tall Frenchman scoring 19 goals.
In Gladbach, the search for another attacker should continue. Sports director Roland Virkus had recently confirmed that a “variably deployable” striker is needed.
