Medi Bayreuth has averted relegation from the basketball Bundesliga for the time being. The bottom of the table won 113:107 (55:36) at the Fraport Skyliners from Frankfurt and prevailed in his 15th away game of the season for the first time in a foreign hall.
In the event of a defeat, Upper Franconia would have been the first to be relegated. With a record of six wins and 24 defeats, the Bayreuthers are still at the bottom of the table, with a deficit of three wins to the non-relegation places and four games remaining, staying up in the league is unlikely.

At the top of the table, Alba Berlin scored its eleventh win in a row with a 104:79 (51:46) home win over the Rostock Seawolves and remains at the top of the table ahead of Telekom Baskets Bonn. The defending champion determined the second half with 53:33, Jaleen Smith scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half.
FC Bayern Munich is still in third place, beating Hakro Merlins Crailsheim 78:69 (28:31) and unbeaten for ten games in a row. Bayern didn’t find their rhythm for three quarters, but turned the game around with a 13:3 start in the final section. Andreas Obst led the guests with 24 points.
The EWE Baskets Oldenburg made the play-offs perfect as the fourth team after Alba Berlin, the Telekom Baskets Bonn and Bayern. The cup finalist booked his ticket with a 104:95 (49:52) against Brose Bamberg.
