MCM RECEIVES THE WORLD RENOWNED BUTTERLFY MARK CERTIFICATE FROM POSITIVE LUXURY

The German luxury fashion house MCM has received the globally recognized Butterfly Mark certificate. This is a milestone in the MCM Vision 2030 to become a sustainable fashion company.

Positive Luxury is recognized by global players in the fashion industry as one of the world’s leading sustainability platforms. By awarding the Butterfly Mark, Positive Luxury is helping luxury companies adapt and accelerate their actions for the new climate economy. The certificate is awarded to companies that actively drive innovation and promote inclusive growth through more sustainable business practices.

The seal of approval is direct, independent proof to consumers and other stakeholders that a luxury company operates to the highest sustainability standards throughout the value chain.

With this certificate, MCM continues its mission for smart luxury: setting emission reduction targets that are climate science-based through the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi); promoting climate and ecosystem protection by increasing circular production; and promoting innovation, circular economy and inclusive growth.

This is another important step by MCM to take more responsibility. While MCM announced in 2018 that all products would be fur-free, today the company uses eco-faux fur in its collections, but also Econyl, Re-Silk, Tencel, Koba and Bananatex, among other materials. In addition, all leather goods are made exclusively from LWG-certified leather. The brand is working hard to use innovative materials in the future, such as B. Viscose material based on biomass.

“It is important to be transparent on our journey to becoming a sustainable luxury brand. At MCM, we firmly believe that it is our responsibility to drive sustainability forward. There is still a lot to do, but we are taking the right steps and investing in it the right initiatives. We believe that there is an urgent need to bring about change in the fashion industry and want to be a positive example of innovation and progress in all sustainability goals.” Dirk Schoenberger, Global Brand Officer at MCM

By joining the Positive Luxury brand community, MCM will continue to try to exceed the set standards for social and ecological framework conditions in the future.
