Technical director of the McLaren team James Key has left his position. The British team announces that Key’s employment has ended immediately.

The F1 team, which has had a miserable start to its season, says that it will change the management of the team. Instead of one technical manager, a team manager Andrea to Stella three people will report in the future. They are previously the director responsible for aerodynamics Peter Prodromouboss of the engineering department Neil Houldey and moving from Ferrari to McLaren David Sanchez.

Sanchez, who was fired from Ferrari earlier this month, cannot join his new employer until January of next year.

Stella says in McLaren’s press release that the team felt it needed a shake-up and new ways of working. The British team is about to have a brand new wind tunnel and a driving simulator for their factory in the near future.

Despite the eloquence, Key’s fate was undeniably the team’s MCL60 car this season, which has proven to be miserable after only two races. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri have been far from the points in both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Even last season, the team finished fifth in the manufacturer’s series.

The raven migration of the famous British team seemed to be over, but for this season the team has fallen back to the bottom. Daniel Ricciardo a victory in the 2021 Italian GP returned the team to a winning position for the first time since 2012, but at the moment the top spots are just a beautiful daydream.

McLaren has already admitted that the early season is about survival. The team is putting all its hopes on the upgrade parts that will be introduced later this year.
