Mbappé was back in the news a few hours ago, when he refused to fulfill an advertising commitment from the French Football Federation. But it is already something usual in the gala star. According to ‘Le Parisien’, Kylian Mbappé is a firm defender of his own image and has very particular beliefs that prevent him from being the image of which commercial brands. That is why he did not want to attend an event with the sponsors of the Federation.
The French star wants to control 100% of his image rights and that is something that PSG would be willing to grant him despite losing a good source of income. Clubs make significant profits by letting their big stars attend events with their sponsors. According to information from ‘Le Parisien’, that would not be a problem for the Parisian club to renew Mbappé.
Even so, the controversy came in the Federation. And here everyone has their reasons. As the French newspaper points out, the players sign a contract before their international debut with France by which they must be part of the marketing campaigns. Mbappé, still a child and without the beliefs he now has, signed that contract that ‘forces’ him to be the image of any act if the Federation so wishes. However, the Frenchman put himself in the hands of the lawyer Delphine Verheyden, who snapped at the French body to review that agreement and adapt it to the current reality. After that warning, the lawyer indicated that if there was no positive response, Mbappé would not fulfill the advertising commitments again. And so it has been.
