Ex-alderman Kris Demeyere eventually resigned himself because he would be mentioned in the Audit. The report was discussed in the city council on Thursday evening. Due to political unrest, a secret vote of confidence was held on Saturday to decide on the role of Mayor Piet De Groote in the future. The participants in the vote decided that De Groote will not be party leader in the next municipal elections.

Self-questioning party

Piet De Groote is said to have been informed by one of the members that the majority does not want him as party leader in the next elections.
