Mayor Richard Korteland and his girlfriend Rosa got married on Saturday afternoon.
Under police escort, the couple drove from their home to the town hall of Meppel. After the wedding ceremony, the fire brigade was waiting for the newlywed couple, with three fire engines. The cars were marked with the text: ‘Good luck!’.
On behalf of the Drenthe Safety Region and the fire service, the bridal couple received a bunch of flowers. Under police escort, the couple left for the Meppeler Toren.
