‘Maybe I was spotted during lunch with Matthijs’

Jan Slagter does not understand at all that Rutger Castricum keeps saying so firmly that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is going to Omroep MAX. “We had lunch. Maybe he saw that?”

According to Rutger Castricum, it is already done: the fallen megastar Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is moving to Omroep MAX. He said this on Thursday evening at the table at Today Inside, but the next morning there was an official denial from broadcaster Jan Slagter. Yet Rutger continues to persevere. How is this now?

‘Fool!’

Jan was in the room last night talk show by Humberto Tan and was asked about it. “Fool! It’s really not true. I don’t know where he gets that from. I have regular contact with Matthijs and from the start it was basically about: how are you and what actually happened? And maybe he deduces that from that.”

It could also be that Rutger spotted them together somewhere, he continues. “I had lunch with him once. Maybe he saw me somewhere. I have no idea. But the deal is… I’m not the spokesperson from Matthijs, but there is a good chance… I would like to have him at MAX, I have made no secret of that.”

Matthijs to Netflix?

However, it is not yet clear where Matthijs is going, according to Jan. “Does he choose the NPO, does he choose RTL, does he choose SBS 6, does he choose a streaming service? Don’t know. This will become apparent when the Van Rijn committee’s investigation is published in mid-November. Then you can start talking about it and that is also the agreement.”

He is referring to the investigation into misconduct at the public broadcaster. “Matthijs would also rather wait for that. It has already gone on long enough, that month can still be added. It’s really nonsense.”

Rutger persists

Strange, Humberto thinks. He says: “We also called Rutger and he said: ‘I stand by my statements, I have a very reliable source.’ Apparently not Jan Slagter, but the left or right hand?”

Jan: “It’s really nonsense.”

Humberto: “And I’m not going to be surprised in a month if that turns out to be the case?”

Jan: “No, certainly not. I have expressed the wish that he stays with the public broadcaster. Is that at MAX? Yes please. But that is not the case at the moment. Maybe he will go to RTL.”

‘I don’t know anything about it’

Humberto hasn’t heard anything about that. “I don’t know anything about that.”

Jan: “But I also have a source. No, that’s nonsense, haha. It’s very easy to shout, “I have a source.” It’s very difficult for me to defend myself against that. I know and I can say it with my hand on the Bible, but that doesn’t mean anything anymore. Seriously, it’s real niece im Frage.”
