‘Maybe a little too much on the tube’

The sudden TV rise of Andy van der Meijde is not such a success. Not only his reality soap attracts little attention, but also his appearance as a football analyst. “Is he on the tube too much?”

It’s really bad for Andy van der Meijde. He wants nothing more than to build a television career, but his real life soap scores poorly on the Friday evening of SBS 6 and his performances as a football analyst in Veronica Offside also attract little attention. For example, only 256 thousand people (4.6 percent market share) watched the Veronica show yesterday.

Not a big hit

And to think that the Monday edition of Veronica Offside is by far the most popular. No dog watches the Friday edition at all; 158 thousand people (3 percent) were ready for that last weekend.

Rating goddess Tina Nijkamp is concerned. “After a few weeks it is also clear from Veronica Offside that it will not be as big a hit as Veronica Inside. Wilfred Genee continues to have around 250 thousand viewers on Monday and 6 percent in the commercial target group 20 to 54 years old yesterday.”

Too much on the tube?

That is not a jubilant score for Veronica, says Tina, the former channel boss of SBS 6. “Although 6 percent is still 1.4 percent higher than the channel average of last month.”

However, she says it is nothing to write home about. “It is also a lot of Andy van der Meijde on the tube; maybe a little too much? His Andy vs Wesley program only scores 67 thousand viewers after that.”

Radar on one

NPO 1 was lord and master on prime time last night with Radar (1.5 million viewers and 27 percent) and Spoorloos (1.4 million and 28 percent). The silver is for SBS 6, where Chateau Meiland scored 969 thousand viewers (17 percent). Today Inside had 849 thousand viewers (18 percent) after that.

The other most watched prime-time titles were RTL 4’s Expedition Robinson (810 thousand and 15 percent) and NPO 3’s Hunted (704 thousand and 13 percent).
