May Lifschitz creates an international career as an actor

In Elisa Viihte ‘s original series, Finnish viewers will get to know the international promise of an actor, May Lifschitz, 26.

When a Danish-Argentine May Lifschitz was a teenager, she was enthusiastic about her brother’s example of modeling. Mayta was considered a promising young model, and at the age of 15 she already had her own agent, typical of the fashion industry.

The dream eventually took May from his childhood home from the small Danish town of rural Jutland to New York for work.

– I did my first model campaign with the French fashion house Lanvin. That’s where it all started, and after that I worked a lot in New York, Germany and London. I got to travel, and it was really fun, but when I found the acting, I felt like I was finally home.

Mayn path

And since then, May has progressed her career ambitiously toward new roles. An important milestone in May’s life has been the gender correction process, which has not been overlooked, as many pictures of her had already been posted online before the process.

– When I started modeling, the Agencies offered me as a model for both clients looking for male models and clients looking for female models. And after going through that process, I thought at first that I was a woman, and I felt like I didn’t want to face my old self.

After a little thought, May’s mind changed.

– About a year later, I posed on the cover of a Danish magazine, and I remember holding the magazine in my hand, thinking that this may be the first time a transgender has been on the cover of a magazine in Denmark. Soon after, I played the production of a Danish TV show and told my story on Danish television to everyone.

– I didn’t have role models when I was young, so I thought this might be important to someone. That’s when I decided I wanted to create the hope that even transgender people could pose on the cover of the magazine or even be doctors – whatever.

Familiar with Netflix

With hard work, the dream of acting has also borne fruit for May, and Offspring is by no means the first major production in which he has played a significant role. In the past, he has starred in the popular Warrior Nun series Netflix, among others. May once learned a lot from those descriptions.

– Netflix production was a really good environment to work with. The team flew from Los Angeles to meet all the Actors for a meeting called a respect-meeting.

May hopes that lessons will be learned in Scandinavia as well.

– People easily think that everyone knows what is right and what is wrong, but things are not talked about. Americans, on the other hand, have taken it upon themselves to talk things through before the descriptions. This all created a really good atmosphere for the shootings from the very beginning.

Offspring

May’s path to the Finnish Descendants series went through traditional test shots. The screenwriter of the series thought that May, who starred in international giant production, could be exactly the actor sought after in the series.

– We were my brother in the series acting Sonny Lindbergin with, to my recollection, the first duo to be filmed, and an incredible connection immediately arose between us.

And this connection was also noticed in the production of the series: May and Sonny were chosen to star in the series.

– The series is really relevant these days. The direction in which biology is being taken and the ethical and moral issues involved, where the line should be drawn in these matters, is a very relevant theme today.

Thoughts about Finns

Before the filming of the series began, May had a few stereotypes about Finns in mind.

– You use a lot in the sauna, you like vodka and you make good gin! May laugh.

– And in the descriptions I learned that Finns are fast, able to organize and very efficient when they work: all in all, very professional. There are a lot of benefits to acting in these qualities, because when the whole is in place, creativity can blossom.

Supervisor Akseli Tuomivaara the professionalism of May is especially praised. One reason for this is that working with Danish actors created certain challenges for the Finnish director.

– He had to guide us, but he didn’t know anything we were talking about. We were the only Actors in many scenes, so sometimes it caused fun situations.

On an important point

May has received a lot of praise for her roles, but with a rising star in her cloak, she is humble.

– I’m just sitting here at home and wiping My Butt just like everyone else! the actor laughs.

Then he gets serious.

– It is important for me to be visible, because I want to represent the trans community. It’s a matter of honor for me, and it creates purpose for my work as well.

– I try to be active and, of course, earn my living, but it is important for me to be an example of minorities being featured in the media, for example. Every time I get a new job gig, I think this is good for me and for myself, and at the same time it promotes the kind of world that I hope we are heading for in terms of minority rights.

Also, a new dream for a career has already become clear in May’s mind.

– I am now working to get my first lead role, he says cautiously.
