She is undeniably the least popular member of the Meiland TV family: the somewhat spoiled daughter Maxime Meiland. The reality star piggybacks on the success of her parents and knows how to farm with it. And what does she think of all those people who criticize her? Welfare recipients, she shouts in the talk show by Robert Rodenburg.

‘It’s not me’

Maxime notices that she gets the most negative reactions from everyone in her family. “People are always negative about me. When it comes to Chateau Meiland, they always have to have me. I’m always pissed off.”

Robbert then: “But why is that? Have you ever consulted yourself?”

Maxime: “Yes, I have sometimes thought about: well, can’t they be right after all? But no.”

Benefit recipients

It’s not her fault, it’s the others, says Maxime. “Yes that’s right! These are all people who sit on the couch with their benefits and drink beer. And then tell me I’m spoiled! Gerda, no no no. No, I can’t go there… No, that’s just not the case… They’ll figure it out. They don’t even have to look.”

It is striking that Maxime and her parents have made a program about people on welfare. That led to a lot of criticism, since it is quite obvious that the Meilandjes do not have much compassion for that. A TV fragment is known in which the Meilandjes were put in their place by someone who really lives on welfare.

Criticism of book

Maxime has also received a lot of criticism for her book, in which she tells her dramatic life story. “Normally when people moan about me in Chateau Meiland, I’m like: well, one ear in, out the other. But with that book it is of course so personal.”

She continues: “And if someone says, for example, ‘Yes, she lies all together, just for the money’, you know, things like that. Yeah, that’s not fun, you know…”

Sad and angry

Does that make her sad or angry? “Well, both actually. Yes, so I also did a session to relieve myself with someone. Because my parents then say, for example: ‘Yes, but yes, that will blow over again.’ But that’s not what you want to hear at a time like that, you know.”

“So, well, just talked about it and that always helps. Therapy? Yes.”
