“It was very challenging under these conditions. Dry, then rain, then dry again,” said Verstappen. ,,It was very slippery and also difficult to get the tire temperature right. It was hectic. But this is a great track. You will be punished here if you make a mistake. We like that, it makes it heavy and difficult.”
The rest of the weekend it seems to remain (almost) dry. “Then it will indeed be different. The first races this season didn’t go according to plan, but we’re trying to have a good weekend here.”
The sprint race starts on Saturday at 4.30 pm. Verstappen knows World Cup leader Charles Leclerc next to him on the front row. ,,There could have been more, but we didn’t make the right choice in Q3,’ said Leclerc. “But in the end, a second place is no drama.”
