When almost everyone had done this, Lewis Hamilton was at the top of the times list with his Mercedes. He completed the winding lap of 4.38 kilometers in 1.17.811 and was therefore exactly a quarter of a second faster than Verstappen, with teammate Sergio Pérez in tow. Nico Hülkenberg was well placed in P4 with his Haas, while the strong McLaren in Silverstone was the only one of the front teams that had not yet done its best on the red rubber.
