Max Verstappen after victory: ‘Great Sunday for us’ | Motorsport

“Physically it was tough, we kept it exciting until the end,” said Verstappen, who won his second race in a row. His gap on Charles Leclerc is now nineteen points. “I am very happy to win here in Miami. It’s a great Sunday for us.”

Leclerc also acknowledged that it was a battle of attrition. “We had a hard time on the medium tyre, I was overtaken by Max and that made our race more difficult,” said Leclerc. “After that we were more competitive on the hardest tire. At the end (after the safety car, ed.) I thought I could catch Max, but they had an advantage today in terms of speed.”

The Ferrari driver hopes the Ferrari will get faster, with an upcoming package of updates for the next race in Barcelona. “We have to keep pushing, upgrades will be important this season. Hopefully we can take a step in the right direction from the next Grand Prix.”
