Leipzig sports manager
Max Eberl justified his commitment to RB Leipzig after 23 years at Borussia Mönchengladbach with the desire for titles and at the same time criticized verbal hostilities from fan curves. He never made a secret of the fact that he was ill, said the Leipzig sports director on Saturday before the Bundesliga game against the “foals” on the TV channel “Sky”.
“If this topic is negated and it is simply summarized as a change from Gladbach to Leipzig, then that is simply wrong. And that of people who put other people in their crosshairs, who run through the cities with iron bars and light fires – I don’t think there is a need for more comment on that,” said Eberl.

The 49-year-old gave up his post in Gladbach at the beginning of 2022 for health reasons and took up his new post in Leipzig last December. Most recently there had been abusive posters from fans of 1. FC Union Berlin and 1. FC Köln against Eberl. Eberl explained his move to Leipzig by saying that it was a club with different opportunities than Mönchengladbach, which was very ambitious. “So am I. That’s why I decided, after my regeneration, to go back to a club where you have the opportunity to shape something and maybe finally win a title. I’ve never gotten that in my career,” he said.
Overview
All transfers from RB Leipzig since it was founded in 2009This way!
Together with the new sports director Rouven Schröder, who comes to Leipzig from FC Schalke 04 and takes up his post on April 1, Eberl wants to gradually restructure the Leipzig squad: “The next three transfer periods will help to change the face of the team changes. Players could leave us, now or in the future, players are not getting any younger. Accordingly, it is my task to build up a new face to some extent over the coming months and years.”
