The first marriage is from 1963. He marries with photojournalist Lori Sammartino. Fourteen years of difference. She is 39, he is 25. A detail that at the time had caused a sensation. The union lasts a few years and the couple divorced in the 1970s. When Sammartino died, she declared that: «she was a great photojournalist, she taught me so much about my work».
Subsequently meets the journalist Flaminia Morandi. The marriage is celebrated in 1973. From this union they are born two children: Camilla and Saverio. In 1978 Costanzo meets Simona Izzo. They don’t marry, but theirs is a long and lasting love. In fact, they lived together from 1983 to 1986. Also couple at work. They act together in the series Horace – the conductor’s first time as an actor. Despite the end of the relationship, they remain friends and in relationships of great affection. The divorce from Marta Flavi and the marriage with Maria De Filippi
In 1989 he married Marta Flavi. In the years of their union, Flavi leads Marriage agency on Channel 5. The divorce comes in 1995. In that moment, Costanzo had already met what would become the woman of his life: Maria De Filippi. De Filippi herself explained how the wife discovered the extramarital affair: listening to a phone call between her and her husband.
Here, then, is the arrival of Maria DeFilippi. She is a young woman in her thirties. They met at a conference in Venice. Soon after, he offers her to work for his company. She accepts, and it is the beginning of a love story that overwhelms both of their lives.
