Ajax coach Maurice Steijn does not file summary proceedings against football analyst and former international Pierre van Hooijdonk. Steijn’s lawyer announced this on Thursday NRC. Van Hooijdonk added last Sunday NOS Studio Football that Steijn as a trainer at NAC Breda (2020-2021) was involved in “dark deals” with “befriended brokers”.
Steijn then threatened with an ultimatum: if Van Hooijdonk did not retract his statement before 12:00 on Wednesday afternoon, he would file a lawsuit against him. Van Hooijdonk has since apologized. He said on Wednesday evening: “I have no evidence for my remark and therefore I should not have made that remark. I hereby take back what I said about Maurice and I apologize to him.”
Van Hooijdonk will not remain completely damage-free: he will not be allowed to join in the near future NOS Studio Football join us. His position as a member of the Supervisory Board at NAC Breda is not under discussion, a spokesman for the club said when asked. “No matter how annoying the situation is, it is a matter between Van Hooijdonk and Steijn. This has no effect on the functioning of Pierre van Hooijdonk as a supervisory director at NAC and therefore has no influence on current policy implementation,” said a spokesperson.
