GHigh school students find out today what to focus on for their exams. The Ministry of Education and Merit led by Giuseppe Valditara has published the ordinance with all the subjects of the different addresses for the second test of the 2024 Maturity.
As always, the first test, the Italian exam, is common to all institutes while the second varies depending on the school attended. And they are selected from those characterizing each field of study.
Maturity 2024, the subjects of the second test: classical Greek and scientific mathematics
At classical high school, after two consecutive years of Latin, the Greek version was chosen. The last time Greek was released was 2018 (in 2019 there were both subjects).
Scientific high school students will find themselves having to face the mathematics test. We come to the students of the technical institutes: Business Economics for the technical institutes of the economic sector specializing in Administration, Finance and Marketing. «The state exam will take place in continuity with the methods established for last year», he explained. But «this year – he added – the graduates and their families will also be able to count on the support of the guidance teachers who will be able to help them make informed choices, in light of the inclinations of the children and the subsequent training offer, university or IT, but also of the employment offer of the area”.
We start on June 19th with the first test
Starting whistle? Wednesday 19 June at 8.30 am with the first test: the theme. That is, the Italian essay, the next day there will be the second test. Once the two written tests have been passed, there will be the oral interview in front of the commission, which will be composed of a president, three external commissioners and three internal commissioners of the institute.

The information will be published on the ministry website between May and June lists of commissioners’ names for each section. Also on the ministry website there is already the complete list of the second tests of the various institutes. In addition to Greek, classical and mathematics, there will be foreign language and culture 3 for linguistics, design disciplines for artistic, dance techniques for dance and composition for musical. As regards the technical institutes, there will be Multimedia Design for Graphics and Communication, Systems and Networks for IT and Telecommunications, and Corporate Tourist Disciplines for Tourism.
The exam weighs 60% on the final result. The two written tests and the oral one are worth up to 20 points each. This year too, the Invalsi tests are mandatory but do not affect the final grade. And the maximum score is 100.
