Mattie Valk does not think it is right that Marieke Elsinga’s image as a TV presenter has been dealt such a huge blow by her megaflop Alles is Muziek. “I don’t get it at all.”
It has amazed critics en masse that the program Alles is Muziek has been selected for Marieke Elsinga’s solo presentation debut. This was really a dráák of a show: the Netherlands zapped away en masse when candidate Irene Moors started ramming on a shuffleboard like a man possessed. Is this what Marieke wants to bring us in terms of TV entertainment?
Mattie doesn’t get it
Of course it doesn’t bode well. If you start with such a bad thing, it will of course be a disastrous start to your career as an entertainment presenter. However, according to Mattie Valk, that blow to her image is not justified. He is Marieke’s co-host in Qmusic’s morning show and saw the publicity storm with sorrow.
Mattie complains about that in the AD: “To be honest, I have read the reviews with growing amazement. I really didn’t understand that. Fewer people watched it, so what! I don’t know a well-known Dutchman whose career goes up in a straight line.”
Mary not sure
Didn’t Marieke become very insecure because of that mega flop? Everyone will, of course, be watching her next TV format with a magnifying glass. If that is again so terribly bad, then we can of course write Marieke off.
However, the presenter is sober about it, she indicates. “I had a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately, the viewers didn’t like it enough. Of course that doesn’t leave me cold, but it didn’t make me insecure either. When you try new things, you sometimes fail.”
Barend & Van Dorp
Marieke also finds the negative press she received a bit too much. “We shouldn’t pretend that I was trying to make the new Barend & Van Dorp. I still have plenty to learn as well. I am currently working on an entertainment program for RTL 4 again, about which I am not allowed to say anything yet.”
Incidentally, Mattie should not think about pursuing such a TV career: “I don’t have that ambition at all. I already have a love-hate relationship with the cameras that capture Marieke and me every day during the morning show.”
