Matti Mattsson cleared the 200 meter breaststroke EC semi-final in style. Mattsson swam to the final as the number one seed in the semifinals.
On Saturday, Mattsson took care of the heat in the first round. In the semi-final, the time improved by almost two seconds. Mattsson’s winning time was 2:09.88. Mattsson led the semi-final throughout the swim.
In Rome, Mattsson has an excellent opportunity to bring a medal to Finland. Porilainen’s trophy cabinet doesn’t have an EC medal already.
The men’s breaststroke final will be swum on Sunday at 20:01 Finnish time.
