In addition to Mati and Tepo, Tepo’s sons who worked in the background of the song Santer and Oscar. Iltalehti caught up with Santeri to tell more about the duo’s return.
According to him, the reason behind the duo’s return is largely uncle Matti’s burning desire to make music.
– Uncle Matti is still such a natural child in that business. However, he has been making songs and music for over fifty years, so he doesn’t know how to stop, Santeri characterizes and adds:
– And he certainly doesn’t want to.
He says that everyone was very excited to send the press release about the return on Wednesday.
– It kind of felt like I was about to release my first single. Such a tense feeling that now we are pressing this send button from here and to the Lord.
Despite the tension, the brothers are very excited.
– Yes, the boys had that enthusiasm, says Santeri.

In the summer of last year, the duo had to cancel all their concerts due to Mati’s health concerns, when the doctor advised him to stay on sick leave. It was said that Mati will already suffer from an inner ear infection in the fall of 2023.
Now Santeri says that his uncle seems to be in good health.
– Yes, he seemed to be in good health and enthusiastic, but I can’t really comment on this matter, he says.
He can’t say whether the two will play together with the upcoming album, but he believes there will be a willingness.
– Certainly, at least the hopes are that there will be gigs, because they clearly like doing them. Of course, there is nothing agreed or similar, at least not yet, only time will tell.

Santeri says that the new song was born in peace and in a good spirit, without haste or pressure. The song project took about a year.
– It was a kind of “quietly good comes” process, he says.
– In terms of time, of course, it took a year, but in practice it went quite smoothly and quickly, Santeri states.
It’s easier for him to publish the first song and the related press release, because with that there’s no need to keep quiet about it anymore.
– This was not a state secret, but we still kept it a little under wraps so that there would be a little surprise.
Matti and Teppo have toured Finnish stages since 1969. The 80s were the brothers’ golden age, but their popularity has lasted their entire career. The duo’s hits include, among others I work every day, cat gold, Behind everything is a woman and The pace is picking upof which Portion Boys made their own version, which became a huge hit.
