Matthijs van Nieuwkerk scolds colleagues: ‘You are workers!’

Matthijs van Nieuwkerk continues to baffle with the misconduct he has shown for years at De Wereld Draait Door. According to one person involved, he even cursed with the word ‘workers’.

It must be a huge disappointment for Matthijs van Nieuwkerk that he is no longer welcomed everywhere as a huge television star. He currently spends his days in the yard of his farm, where, according to the Story, he walks around like a wanderer. Is that all deserved? His former employees undoubtedly think so.

Foam in the corners of the mouth

One of them tells in magazine Privé, which was the first medium to write about the toxic culture at DWDD eleven years ago, that Matthijs also exploded after talking to some guests at the after-party. A number of cameras were then driven to the adjacent studio, but that happened just a little too fast for Matthijs’ taste.

The source in question: “We already heard: ‘Matthijs is dissatisfied.’ That was code language for: hide yourself. And then it happened. With his angry step he came up the stairs where the crew just wanted to eat and he starts yelling me there! Shout! The foam stood at the corners of his mouth. The GVDs flew through space.”

“You are workers!”

What was Matthijs yelling then? “He said: ‘I can’t even stand with those guys! What do you think you are? You are just workers you hear!? Workers!’ Just as quickly as he came in, he disappeared again, only to turn halfway up the stairs, start again and keep going!”

Isn’t ‘workers’ a strange swear word for someone who works at BNNVARA? Yes, find the source. “It did not even dawn on those present that it is strange for a broadcaster that has the word worker in its name to use that as a CURSE WORD!”

Stunned with fear

Matthijs then raged like ‘a complete madman’, says the source. “When it happened, everyone was transfixed. Stunned with fear. Nobody did anything.”

According to the source, some of the people who were there that night have not even worked for a while. “The Operational Production Leader (OPL) has submitted a complaint to the VARA on behalf of the entire group, followed by an apology in an email.”

But measures? They did not follow, concludes the Private source.
