Two of the country’s least beloved celebrities came together yesterday: Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and Rob Kemps. But they weren’t really looking for the press… “Get out of here!”
Rob Kemps has written some book about a French cemetery and he presented it somewhere yesterday. And when you say book presentation, you say Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. Nowadays it still comes to the opening of an envelope. The fallen television star was not very talkative…
Book presentation
Celebrity photographer William Rutten points out that the book presentation was not accessible to the press. “It was a quite special book presentation, because there was no press present,” he says Show news.
Colleague Dyantha Brooks: “Was it a book presentation? That is still the question.”
Bart Ettekoven: “He presented it to his friends and acquaintances. His family from Brabant was there, his girlfriend Stephanie Klaver was there and good friend Matthijs van Nieuwkerk was also there.”
‘Go away’
What did Matthijs do? “It seems to have some kind of subscription to book presentations and CD presentations. That is being core business the last months. He was told in advance that he would present it, but that turned out not to be the case. He was present and Rob also spoke to Matthijs,” says Bart.
Shownieuws was unable to speak to Matthijs. “We tried to speak to Matthijs for a while, but we were kindly but urgently asked to leave. Actually, on a few occasions, the organization, the publishing house, came to us and said: ‘Do you want to leave now?’”
Outside the door
At one point the organization even chased Shownieuws away when they were just standing on public property. “Even outside the door?”, says Dyantha.
Yes, says Bart. “We just stood on the sidewalk, but that was not very appreciated.”
