‘Matthijs van Nieuwkerk on site Jinek? No, four men can’t!’

It is unlikely that RTL 4 will talk to Matthijs van Nieuwkerk about the succession of Eva Jinek, thinks media expert Rob Goossens. “I think they prefer a woman.”

The late evening of RTL 4 is suddenly very homogeneous due to the departure of Eva Jinek: three men are now in charge there. Nevertheless, the situation does not seem tenable, because Beau van Erven Dorens and Humberto Tan are no longer interested in being on television daily for longer periods of the year and Renze Klamer is not a crowd pleaser.

Four men

Presenter Frank Dane asks in RTL Boulevard wondering if they will call Matthijs van Nieuwkerk after his big sorry interview. “Don’t do something at RTL? Maybe at a talk show table?”

Media connoisseur Rob Goossens: “It’s possible. There is actually a vacancy, of course, now that Eva has left. It could be, but then you will be sitting there with four men in the late evening. I can imagine that RTL would rather bring in a woman if they bring in someone.”

Not to Talpa

Some assume that Matthijs will go to Talpa, because his bosom friend Frans Klein is now the TV bobo there. TV expert Tina Nijkamp advises against this. “I would definitely advise Matthijs to work for the NPO and not for Talpa, because Matthijs is not even used to advertising breaks. I think the NPO suits him best.”

Rob agrees. “I would listen to Aunt Tina and not go to Talpa, not least because Matthijs is friends with Youp van ‘t Hek. You just know in advance that in the coming years every time those two see each other, Youp will roll on the floor screaming with laughter at the idea that Matthijs is at SBS for the first half hour.”

To Omroep MAX

It would be best if Matthijs started working at SBS 6, Rob thinks. “That seems like a perfect match.”

Jan Slagter, boss of Omroep MAX, is interested in that. He says this weekend NRC: “I think it’s a good interview, in which he stays close to himself and goes deep into the dust.”

And BNNVARA, does he want him back? No: “We at BNNVARA are fully aware that we have to keep working hard to create a safe working environment for everyone. A return of Van Nieuwkerk to BNNVARA is not an option now.”
