‘Matthijs van Nieuwkerk, now sit at Beau’s talk show table!’

There is still some discomfort about Matthijs van Nieuwkerk who is working on his comeback. The reason? He continues to refuse to simply give proper accountability in a TV interview. The same feeling exists about Linda de Mol: according to Luuk Ikink, there are still plenty of questions open, but she keeps refusing to take part in a talk show.

Start of comeback?

Matthijs and Linda have been in the TV world for an incredibly long time, have made countless talk shows, but now refuse to come and tell us what went wrong. Then just stay at home and close your curtains, say critics. And that is why Matthijs’ comeback as Anouk’s conversation buddy causes some resentment.

RTL 4-star Beau van Erven Dorens in his last night talk show: “It was interesting to see Anouk, but it was perhaps even more interesting to see Matthijs again. You are a good friend of Matthijs. Is this the start of another comeback?”

‘I hope so!’

Yes, answers Marc-Marie Huijbregts. “I should hope so. Yes, I think it has lasted long enough and that it will be good if he starts doing something again. Of course everyone thought: we are all waiting for the investigation, but that is not about him at all, but about much more. I don’t think we should wait for that.”

Telegraaf journalist Wouter de Winther is getting a bit tired of all the fuss about Matthijs. He thinks the presenter is a bit cowardly. “A circus is being made of that man. I say: just put him here on that chair, have a conversation about it and then we can move on or something.”

Beau wants to

Marieke Elsinga does not understand why that is necessary. “But we had that conversation in the Volkskrant, right?”

No, Wouter continues: “Well, the man works for television, so I also say: equal monks, equal hoods. Everyone has to reveal their inner feelings to him, but then we might also want to hear it from him and once we have had that, we can continue.”

Beau likes that. “The invitation is open. Then we clear the table and then we can have that conversation, but I wonder if he would like to do that.”

‘I would do it’

Marc-Marie wonders what is useful. “Would you be up for that?”

Beau: “If I were him I would. He’s eloquent enough. He spent a year in prison, he didn’t kill anyone, so let’s just have that conversation.”

Marc-Marie: “No. Raised voice…”

Beau: “Well, a little more than a raised voice.”

Marc-Marie: “Yes. A couple of times.”
