De Volkskrant has been working for months on a damning article about how Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has behaved for years behind the scenes of his program De Wereld Draait Door. The newspaper informed Shownieuws last weekend that the article is in the finalization phase, but this week too, publication was not forthcoming.
Schadenfreude
Rob Goossens, the television connoisseur of RTL Boulevard, is getting impatient. “Another day, another Volkskrant in which there is no letter about a certain former talk show host,” he tweeted.
Sywert van Lienden, opinion maker and corona villain, then: “Schadenfreude?”
Rob: “Simply curious what the story is that they dare to put their hand in the fire for. Heard many variants, now it all hangs somewhere in a vacuum and that really doesn’t help anyone. Certainly not the main character.”
Sywert: “If I, as a pariah, already know the line of the (alleged) story, then you certainly do as an insider as well.”
Legal battle
One Mark thinks that Matthijs has put an entire legal team on de Volkskrant. “I suspect there is a legal battle going on in the background. Money is of no importance to the man who has snatched his wealth from the pot of public money.”
Media maker Rens Muller: “Something tells me that the story will not be published.”
And media journalist Bas Hakker: “If it were a sports story, we would say: in 20 years we will see what really happened in Other Times.”
