You would think that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk has learned his lesson after all those revelations about his nasty behavior in the workplace, but nothing could be further from the truth. Jelleke van Rijkind, one of the few former DWDD employees who was brave enough to come forward with his name and name about his tyrannical behavior, believes that Matthijs is back to square one.

Suffering for years

Jelleke, like many other people, suffered for years from Matthijs’ bizarre behavior. The presenter practically hung his former make-up artist by her hairdryer, he behaved so strangely. After the outbreak of the DWDD riot, the TV millionaire was suddenly open to a conversation and it is possible that she walked around with him twice.

There is proof of this: one of those sorry laps was accidentally photographed by a Story paparazzo. And that apology conversation was desperately needed, according to Jelleke: “It has been in my system for years. I could not function well in groups and was constantly alert. I was always afraid that someone would stand up and yell at me.”

“He’s using you.”

Jelleke’s psychologist was skeptical about those rounds with Matthijs, she says the People’s Side. “He said: he has had years to apologize. The psychologist warned: you are looking for a human response, but I think he is not going to give that – he is going to use you to say that he has worked hard on himself.”

How does she view that now? “The psychologist was right. (…) Then came NRC. His apology didn’t feel sincere; it was mainly about him, less about the former DWDD members. That hurt.”

Fat middle finger

Jelleke thinks it is even worse that Matthijs signed with RTL without waiting for the report on the DWDD misery. “A big middle finger. I texted him that I thought it was disrespectful that he hadn’t waited. He then had his manager call me. He said he had a lot of respect for me.”

Is Matthijs behaving rudely towards that make-up artist again? You don’t let your manager answer that, do you? “I sent him another text message: he could also call or text me himself. I haven’t heard from him again.”

‘It scares me’

Ronald Molendijk finds this ridiculous, says the music expert Show news. “I find that quite intense to read. Then I think a bit: it would have been nice if Matthijs had answered himself, but hey, well, you can’t do everything right in life, I guess. But of course he could score bonus points with that.”

Private boss Evert Santegoeds hopes that the report will not be too bad for Matthijs: “If it is really that intense, it could still have a significant impact, possibly even for Matthijs’ new contract, because if he were to be very damaged, then I am sure that there is still a clause in the RTL contract to get rid of him again.”

Repetition of moves

Johan Derksen thinks Jelleke is a whiner, he makes it clear Today Inside. “It’s repetitive. The make-up lady can cry again and everyone who did not perform well can say that they were screwed and then they are all very angry that Matthijs has signed a contract with RTL.

He snorts: “Matthijs should have waited for the report? But it took them 2.5 years! It is yet another proof that currently in organizations the people who perform poorly are in charge. All the major newspapers are at the door panting to see if they have any complaints.”
