Matthijs van Nieuwkerk and Rob Kemps as an SBS duo? ‘Not logical’

It remains a bit in the air: the possibility that Matthijs van Nieuwkerk will follow his buddy Frans Klein to SBS 6. He could be reunited with Rob Kemps there. “No!”

The love between BNNVARA and Matthijs van Nieuwkerk is definitely over, but there are of course more clubhouses at the public broadcaster where he can go. Omroep MAX bobo Jan Slagter, for example, is crazy about discredited men. Well, as long as they look a bit like him anyway (not Ali B)…

Not logical

Mies, increasingly a household name on the social medium X, would in any case find it sad if Matthijs chose Talpa. “There are friends Frans and Eus (although, he is everywhere), so not really surprising. But incredibly sad on a human level, craving the spotlight so much that it doesn’t matter anymore,” she writes.

On that say Jef Willemsen, media journalist for De Telegraaf, among others: “Doesn’t feel very logical, even if your friends are there. Mean, well, Rob Kemps is also an SBS face, but you don’t see them season three of Chansons anyway! to make? Most SBS viewers thought that Martien Meiland already spoke too much French.”

Intelligent enough

Maarten van Rossem, jury member in De Slimste Mens, thinks that Matthijs would never go to SBS. “Of course there are voices that say: ‘Don’t let him make the mistake of going to commercials, let him go to public broadcasting.’ I think he is intelligent enough to understand and do that himself,” he says in his podcast.

It is logical that Matthijs should not go to SBS, thinks Maarten. “I would strongly discourage him from going to the commercials. That is a destruction of everything, isn’t it, which tends to subtlety, to some kind of nuance, to some kind of humanity.”

Spijkerman effect

Matthijs would be directly affected by the Jack Spijkerman effect, thinks Maarten. “Look at Jack Spijkerman, he experienced it firsthand. Well not just Jack Spijkerman, but wait, that’s what you thought of Jinek? Also back again. How long has she been there? Two years?”

He continues: “Jack then also broke his contract and so on, so that you also think: for those lazy pennies, sorry. These are all people who are guaranteed to earn above average. If you let yourself be bribed with two tons per year, on which you pay 50 percent tax anyway… Or that many tons per year. Yes, I find that quite sad.”

Content to zero

With the commercials Matthijs could never make what he can make with the NPO, thinks Maarten. “At RTL and the commercials, they often succeed in setting the content to zero.”

He concludes: “I am the last person to want to give that man advice. Well, yes, it seems stupid to me.”
