Golf pro Matthias Schmid achieved his best placing of the season on the DP World Tour.
The 24-year-old from Regensburg needed a total of 269 strokes for the four rounds of the Steyn City Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa, and finished the tournament in third place.
South African Shaun Norris won the $1.5 million event. The 39-year-old beat his compatriot Dean Burmester (266) with 263 strokes and celebrated his first win ever on the former European Tour. Schmid shared third place with Oliver Bekker from South Africa.
The German Olympic starter Hurly Long needed 274 strokes as a shared 21st on the par 72 course. Mannheim’s Yannik Paul (277) finished 37th.
